Seminar News From My Dad
As summer wraps up I just got some new news from my Dad so it's posted under his blog in the writing section. He and his wife, Anneliese, in conjunction with The Arts and Ideas Seminars of the Aspen Institute, are sponsoring a three day seminar titled: The Florence II Seminar "That-One-Man Renaissance -- Leonardo da Vinci". The seminar takes place in Aspen Colorado, December 12th to the 15th. All the contact information is in my Dad's blog so be sure to check it out. It should be a very informative and interesting seminar and both Larry and Anneliese have worked hard to make it an interesting three days. I've still been painting and rolling along with my other site. I'll be posting pics of the new paintings as soon as they are done. Hope all is well with everyone.

Summer is Half Full
Summer has a way of going by fast. Today I had a chance to revamp my site a bit. I'm starting to re-organize the paintings in respective galleries sorted by the year they were painted. We also added some paintings that were not on the site yet. Right now I am painting on four new paintings, two on canvas and two on wood. I am also of course working on the 2008 drafting table as well. Each year since 2005, the drafting table I paint on is signed and becomes a painting. These paintings take a year to complete. I just put the first two examples of the tables in the 2000+ gallery. The final results are very shiny paintings and they are difficult to take photos of, but the examples give you an idea of what they look like. As soon as the newest paintings are done I'll put them up. I'm still getting some great numbers as far as hits and visits! So again, hello to the people from all the different countries including: Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, Poland, Italy, United Kingdom, France, and Brazil, just to name some. I'm still surprised that people from so many countries around the world are checking out both my sites. As always, feel free with questions, suggestions or comments. Be sure to check out my other website: intellectualoutpost.com. It's getting many hits as well. Hope all is well with all my friends, near and far.

Summer Solstice
For people all around the world in the Northern Hemisphere, today is a day of celebration that reverberates from the present back to ancient times. The summer solstice marks a time in the year that reflects the warmth and importance of this solar systems center piece: the sun. For thousands of years, people have celebrated this day as they observed the path of our star, across the sky and the cycle of our seasons. I too, am enchanted with the natural cycle and plan on celebrating the summer solstice with vigor. After checking some raw data about both my websites I am pleased to see some surprising numbers as far as hits and visits. So I want to say hello to all the people around the world in countries such as: Canada, Israel, Turkey, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, France and the UK. Thank you for your interest, it is exciting to know that people from all over the world are somehow stumbling across my sites. Please feel free to contact me with any ideas or suggestions or comments that you might have. My sites are still under construction, there are many newer paintings that are not in my gallery yet, to see the paintings in the gallery just click on gallery proper to see them. I still have not organized the paintings into specific galleries as of yet. Look for some changes and updates as the months go by. Please be sure to check out my other website: intellectualoutpost.com. My new site is updated every day with news of History, Culture and Science. So to all: Happy Summer Solstice. I'm partying with you today and tonight!

Good News
I am very happy to announce the launch of my new website. You can view it at intellectualoutpost.com/,I will put a link to it in my links list. It is an idea I had many months ago and although I was slow to get it going, I am very pleased with the results. Do keep in mind that both my sites are still under construction and there is more to add and tweek. Intellectual Outpost will be a reference site with articles and links that envelope intellectual subjects such as science, history and culture. As the site evolves I hope it will be a helpful tool for all ages to use to connect to the intellectual nature of the world around us. Hopefully in the weeks ahead we will be able to polish this site and the new one and really put some finishing touches to make them both more complete. I will be adding articles and sites to the new website on a daily basis so be sure to check it out often. I want to thank Eric, whose talent was crucial to bringing my ideas and vision to life. Just remember that the site is very fresh and there will be a lot to add over the next few weeks and months. I hope that my new site will be something that is helpful for people.

Tribute to a Master Artist
Robert Rauchenberg died last Monday and I just wanted to mention a few things in the wake of his death. For me both Rauchenberg and his friend and fellow artist Jasper Johns were very inspirational. As their styles developed, they rose up in the art world during the early fifties as abstract expressionism took a hold on main stream art. It is good to know that someone who is virtually unknown can rise to the level that these two artists did. Their originality and talent give me hope as an artist. They both serve as examples of how a person's personal vision can start a whole new trend in the world of art, even to the extent of redefining what art can be. I think that Rauchenberg in particular, took abstract expressionism to the next level and I know that as he rose up as an artist in New York City that he was influenced greatly by the artists known as the abstract expressionists. Although he looked to them for inspiration and they were not threatened by him, he ultimately ended up competing with them and taking their form and style of art to a completely new level. Some would say the he was the father of pop art but I would say that he produced an evolution to the prominent style of art from which he emerged. I have great admiration for the period and the artists that really broke the mold of what a piece of art can be. I have an enormous amount of respect for Robert Rauchenberg and his original, dynamic take on art. He will always be a very important inspiration for me and my approach to creating new and interesting pieces. It is not an easy decision to become an artist. There will always be people that just don't like your style or your approach and it is easy to become caught up in dealing with real criticism. Rauchenberg shows the possibility of how to be bold and break the mold and definition of art itself. His work will always have an important place in the long history of original creation.

Links
Be sure to check out the links section, I've spent the last couple of days adding links to the links page. There are various links of my friends and local sites. Now I have added three new categories including Art, Science and Literature. There are many very interesting new links to checkout and I will be adding more as I find them. Small disclaimer - I am not responsible for the content of the sites in the list of links, they are put there for educational and reference purposes. All the sites should be appropriate for viewers.
The snow is still melting. The warmer weather is really appreciated after a long winter. It's going to be an epic rafting Spring and Summer.

Happy St. Patty
Hi everyone. Not much to add today, just wanted to give a small update. It's been a quiet two months. I am working on five new paintings now. After a little more than a decade, I have started to paint on canvas again. It is very interesting to re-familarize myself to painting on a different surface than I've been used to, the paint definitely acts differently on canvas than it does on wood. We have also added more paintings to the gallery. Just click on gallery proper to see the paintings. I have noticed that there is a small amount of color variance to some of the photos. If someone is interested in a painting I can e-mail you a photo with more true to life color, also not every painting in the gallery is for sale. Some are already sold or are in private collections and I will update that information on the photos so that you will see that when you click on them. I just want to show as many examples of my work as possible so that folks out in the world can see the different range of styles. Some of the paintings are rather old and I paint a little differently now, although a little more refined, my older style is resurfacing as I hit the canvas again. I will put up examples of my most recent paintings as soon as they are done. You can use the contact us section of the site to contact me if you have any questions about any of the pieces. I still need to organize the paintings into different gallery sections that better represent the times that the paintings were made. I've also been talking to some people who are interested in doing some guest blogging. Hopefully that will develop more in the weeks to come as well. Other wise we are waiting for the snow to melt. Colorado had a great winter and got a lot of snow. It will be a great Spring and Summer for rafting , all the rivers and streams will be raging in a couple of weeks.

Another Quick Note
Hello everyone, just another quick note to all. We did some additions to the site although it still under construction. We added a guest blogger to the writing section, who happens to be my Dad, Larry Ladin. He will be blogging about interesting writers and literature. We will be adding more guest bloggers in the future as well. The pond hockey tournament in Creede Colorado went extremely well last weekend. It brought a lot of people and fun to the small town, in a normally quiet time of year. Thanks go out To Matt Morrissey for all his hard work he did to put the weekend together. This coming Sat. I will be djing at the Summit here in Durango as an opener for the band Aftergrass. They have released their first official CD which is self titled. They have played psychedelic, folksy rock music for many years all around Colorado and in some parts of California. I was honored to do the artwork for the CD including the cover, the middle and the back cover of the CD.It is available on their website which is in my links page.We will be adding more to my site in the weeks to come including more paintings in the gallery.

Just a Quick Note
Just a quick note to people who might be seeing this site. This website is still under construction, we are about half way to completion. To see the paintings that are in the gallery just click on gallery proper. There are about 18 paintings in there now and they are mainly older paintings from the mid 90's. If you wish to contact me the "contact us" part of the site does function. I'm in the midst of a two week long art show at the Starlite Lounge in Durango Colorado. I just want to say thank you to the owner, Rick, for giving me a great place to show art . It looks like I will have at least one sold painting out of this show and maybe more. I will also be in Creede Colorado for their first annual "Tommyknockers Golden Pick Pond Hockey Tournament ". This will take place starting Friday, Jan. 11th and going through that weekend. I will be Dj-ing Sat. afternoon from about 4pm to 6pm. This event will be great for the small town of Creede in usually what is a slow part of the year for them. So for all the folks out there that might be seeing this site for the first time, it is not finished yet. In the weeks to come we will be finishing out the site and I am looking forward to making additions and tweeks that will finish this puppy off. Until then: " I got no chance of losing this time ".
